Since its founding, VCES a.s. has put great emphasis on the protection of the environment, both in places where its permanent operations are located and at its construction sites. The Company employs specialized environmentalists. Environmental protection procedures in the Company are governed, documented and constantly improved by the EMS (certified since 2002) which fully complies with the requirements of the ISO 14001:2004 standard.

In 2005, the EMS system, which is necessary for government contracts as well as for foreign markets, was recertified by the certification body and no non-compliances were found. The Company's highest priorities, which are also defined in the VCES Environmental Policy, are consideration for nature, prevention of pollution, meeting requirements of valid environmental legislation, improvement of the employees' and suppliers' environmental awareness, and also minimizing waste and protection of trees during construction. VCES a.s. compensates the consumption of office paper with its participation in the Trees for Life ecology programme; hygienic MERIDA paper towels, an environmentally-friendly product, are used in all of its operations and recycled paper is used for selected documents. Consumption of water, energies and waste production is monitored. Containers for separated waste and emergency recovery means are placed at each construction site.

Every year, the Company verifies the staff's readiness for emergencies and response during simulation training in a plant or at a construction site; the employees are trained for environmental protection management and handling of construction chemistry. In the framework of prevention of production of dangerous waste, VCES concluded contracts for the return of used products in compliance with the Act on Waste and the company vehicles are regularly replaced with respect to fuel consumption, exhaust gas production and the possibility of leakage of media dangerous to water.
