Concreting of the last cubic meter of CTU-CIIRC
On Wednesday, 11 May 2016, a construction site of Czech Institute of Informatics, Robotics and Cybernetics became a place of „the last cubic meter ceremony“. This event was attended by representatives of consortium of construction companies HOCHTIEF CZ – VCES, representatives of the Czech Technical University in Prague (CTU), Ministry of Education, designers and architects.
A new building of the CTU reached an important milestone of its construction. A ceremonial filling of the last concrete bucket completed a structural frame of the building. To reach a peak of the frame, it was necessary to excavate 30,000 m3 of soil, to build up a cast-in-place concrete structure containing 15,000 m3 of concrete and 2,200 tons of steel reinforcement and to install aprox. 1,500 tons of steel structures.
Building of the CTU-CIIRC will be an extraordinary facility in many ways. The original architecture will allow this building to fit the new face of the university campus and to become a new landmark of Dejvice district. However, it is its scientific significance why the building is going up. With its focus, it will create a basis for professionals of informatics in high-end scientific and educational center.
