VCES has completed reconstruction of the largest water park in Eastern Bohemia

Following twenty-one months of intensive construction works the refurbished water park in Pardubice has opened its doors to first visitors. On Wednesday 30 May 2012, swimmers of Pardubice as well as the general public gained the most modern and largest swimming complex in Eastern Bohemia.

However, the premises "Na Olšinkách" in Pardubice had to wait many years to be renovated. Though the construction works on the original building had started as early as 1960, it was not completed until 1989 after many years of twists and turns and as a result, the day it finally opened for the public, it had already become obsolete. It is therefore not surprising that despite all the efforts made by its owner, the premises did not satisfy current demanding requirements for modern urban sports facilities, neither in terms of technology nor as regards visitors' comfort. Having considered all aspects, the city of Pardubice quite logically opted for a complex transformation of the premises into attractive facilities dedicated to swimming and relaxation.

"VCES has had extensive experience with construction of swimming pools. Nevertheless, it was a great challenge for us to implement such an extensive project, which is unparalleled in Eastern Bohemia. We will be very happy if the water park becomes popular with its visitors, as it will be the true appraisal of our work" Zdeněk Pokorný, Production Director of VCES, stated during the festive handover of the building.

The premises are now divided into 4 major zones. The indoor part includes: 50m swimming pool, wellness centre for relaxation and water park with water slides, torrent river and other water attractions. Throughout its execution, the project was additionally expanded to include refurbishment of the outdoor part, the so-called Summer Beach and its pools.
The project also involved renovation of the whole building including cladding, in addition to installation of new stainless steel surface in all swimming pools and complete replacement of all technological features and swimming pool technical facilities. Also, new aquatic and relaxation attractions were added with a new emphasis on swimming facilities for small children.

The implementation of construction works was contracted to a Joint Venture "Swimming pool Pardubice" led by VCES and including: Chládek a Tintěra, Pardubice a.s. and Metrostav a.s. The project was designed by CODE Pardubice. To have the premises refurbished, the City of Pardubice invested 546 million CZK without VAT.
