Waste water treatment plant in Nachod under intensive reconstruction

New project named „Nachod and Hronov – sewerage and reconstruction of WWTP Nachod“ started on Wednesday, September 14, 2011 during the foundation stone ceremony.

The entire project is composed by completion of sewerage in districts of towns Nachod, Hronov and Velké Porici. These regions still have not been connected to the main sewerage header leading to the WWTP in Nachod-Brazec. The next part of the project is general reconstruction and intensification of existing WWTP.

„There will be installed new technologies for significant reduction of total nitrogen and phosphorus. The next important contribution to the protection of environment will be the reduction of the energy intensity on treatment plant operation,“ said Dusan Ter, chairman of the board of Vodovody a kanalizace Nachod company. „Although the reconstruction of WWTP decrease its capacity from 66,000 PE (population equivalent) to 46000 PE, the plant will have sufficient reserves. This allows connection of next regions in the future, e.q. Zbecnik, Zdarky, Jizbice, Vysokov, Lipí as well as the development of new construction and industrial areas,“ added Ter.

The total costs of the project reach CZK 254.9 million. The financing of the project involves the State Environmental Fund of the Czech Republic with almost 8 million CZK and the EU Cohesion Fund with CZK 135.6 million. Construction works on the sewerage were started on February 10, 2011 and intensification of the WWTP on July 11, 2011. The completion of entire project is scheduled on June 30, 2013.

The project documentation was made by HYDROPROJEKT CZ. The manager of the project is DABONA company and technical supervision provides Garnets Consulting company. The winner of the tender for the general contractor is VCES company.

"Reconstruction of the WWTP will be realized during operation, always with the exclusion of one of two lines. During the switching objects, there will necessary to make a short-term exclusion of the purification process," presented the construction works Milos Emmer, commercial director of VCES. "We will strengthen working capacities for these works. All activities will be planned properly and in time to make minimal impact to the environment. These short-term interruptions of operation are consulted with the relevant authorities of the Hradec Kralove region," concluded Emmer.

The company Vodovody a kanalizace Nachod is preparing next projects for the future which will increase the quality of water in Metuje River. These ones include completion of the sewerage in Teplice nad Metuji, in villages Zbecnik and Spy and completion of sewerage and reconstruction of WWTP in Mezimesti. Excepting these, the company participates in the preparation of the construction of sewerage systems in villages that VAK Nachod supplies by drinking water.
