Waste water treatment plant in Letohrad will increase its capacity

New project of waste water treatment plant intensification in Letohrad was started on Tuesday, September 13, 2011. The foundation stone ceremony launched the construction works of increasing its capacity and extension of sewerage in town.

The existing waste water treatment plant with a capacity of 4553 PE (population equivalent) has already ceased to suffice the growing needs, so an investor, Water and Sewerage Company in Jablonne nad Orlici, came with the project "Intensification of WWTP and Sewerage Letohrad - completion". "The project will meet the wastewater treatment requirements of legislation, especially in the parameters of total nitrogen and total phosphorus. Upgraded wastewater treatment plant to significantly affect water quality in the recipient of Ticha Orlice river,“ said Bohuslav Vanous, director of Water and Sewerage Company,  during the opening ceremony. The basis of the intensification will be the completion of the second biological line with tanks for denitrification and regeneration of the sludge. At the same time, the existing biological line will proceed the replacement of technological equipment. "This will increase the capacity of the WWTP to 10450 PE," added Vanous.

The project also includes completion of the sewer system in Letohrad. It will enable the new connection of 500 inhabitants and increase the capacity of inconvenient sections. These sections take place especially in localities: Cihelna, Jankovice, Kunčice – „U Traktorky“, ul. U Distance, Orlice I., Orlice II. and Kunčice – Ostrov. There will be built new sewerage of 2,864 meters in total (including 304 m of pressure sewerage). The sewerage of  791 m will increase its capacity. Two new pumping stations will be also the part of this project.

To finance the project with a total value of CZK 107 million involving the amount CZK 68.6 miles of the European Union through the European Cohesion Fund and CZK 4 million of the State Environmental Fund of the Czech Republic. The remaining portion will be financed by an investor's own resources. The project was initiated by passing the construction site to contractor at the end of August this year and project completion is scheduled for December 2013.

Project documentation has been made by VIS - Vodohospodářsko-inženýrské služby . DABONA Company has been established as manager of the project. The contractor of the project is the joint venture of companies VCES and FEMAX  ENGINEERIGN associated in the name „WWTP and Sewerage Letohrad – completion“.

"All construction work will proceed in full operation of WWTP. The planned interruptions of WWTP are estimated just in hours and we will try to short them as much as we can to make their environmental impact minimal, " promised Milos Emmer, commercial director of VCES. "We will do everything to be considerate and to make the life comfortable despite to traffic restrictions and road closings during the construction of sewers in Letohrad," concluded Emmer.
