
Top research centers will grow up in Olomouc
Two new scientific and research centers will expand the Centre of Science and Education of Faculty of Science of Palacky University in Olomouc and create a unique research institutions in the Czech Republic – the Centre of Hana Region for biotechnology and agricultural research and the Regional Centre of advanced technologies and materials. Their construction started on the 8th April 2011 by the foundation stone laying ceremony.
The Centre of Hana Region includes the construction of four buildings with 7 000 m2 of total floor area. These facilities will be used for Technology Centre, Centre of molecular biology and genetics, Center for structural and functional genomics of plants and for Centre for applied agricultural research. The total grant of project will reach CZK 832 millions. The construction with unique technology represents an investment of over CZK 500 millions and instrumentation around CZK 150 millions.
The Regional Centre of advanced technologies and materials is one building with floor area of over 5 000 m2 and an investment of CZK 150 millions. Almost the same amount of nearly CZK 150 millions will be invested in laboratory instrumentation. Further this, a top science center with the most modern technologies in the field of nanotechnology and optical research will grow up in Olomouc.
The construction of the project will be managed by the joint venture of companies "VCES-EUROGEMA-MERCI, REGIONAL CENTERS, OLOMOUC". The construction works of the Center of Hana Region will be finished by the end of 2012 and the object of the Regional Center until April 2013.
