Palace Krizik II – “a green project“ is making an effort of BREEAM EXCELLENT certification

VCES launched construction works on the second phase of the Palace Krizik in Prague in November 2010. This project of administrative spaces for development company Smichov Terrasse Ltd. has been unique since its inception. Palace Krizik belongs to the first pair of projects constructed by VCES, and as a first projects in the Czech Republic ever, according to the BREEAM – an international environmental certification.

The award gives the confirmation that the building was designed and constructed in compliance with the requirement for minimizing its influence and impact on the environment during the construction and operational phase. Regarding to this philosophy, one of the most extraordinary features of the project Palace Krizik II is a solution of using geothermal energy for heating and cooling system of the building by energy piles and deep geothermal wells under the foundation slab. Not only these elements helped to bring current certification of the project to the BREEAM VERY GOOD level and created strong platform for attack of BREEAM EXCELLENT evaluation. An effort of getting prestige international evaluation of our projects goes hand in hand with the concept of sustainable development applied by VCES.

Until June 2012, new administrative center with four underground and seven overground floors will be constructed in very cramped conditions of city urban. Besides the high demands of construction works and logistics procedures in the city, it is necessary to mention the complexity of construction of a tunnel connecting to the existing building Palace Krizik I on underground floor levels. Finaly, sixteen thousand square meters of office spaces will be used by the biggest Czech player in the market of internet browsers- Seznam.cz web portal.

Architectural study was created by D3A Ltd studio and Real Design Development Ltd. is the chief designer of the project.
