New swimming pool in Rychnov nad Kněžnou

Rychnov nad Kněžnou, 12 August 2010. Rychnov nad Kněžnou significantly enriched the offer of sport activities in city. Three months after the opening of BR Sport Center in neighborhood, the next part of history was written in gold letters on Thursday, the 12th August 2010. In the morning, there was an opening ceremony of the new indoor swimming pool named Sports and relaxation center Rychnov.

"Longtime dream of residents from Rychnov and surroundings is coming true,“ said Jiří Rokl, the Mayor of Rychnov, during the ceremony. "Residents of our city and surrounding area to meet a longtime dream," said the ceremony Mayor George ravine. "The new sports complex offers a 25 meters long swimming pool with five lanes, a slide with length of 60 meters, a wading pool, a wild river, a whirlpool with jets, a sauna and steam room. We also remember for mothers with young children. They can use a small swimming pool on the second floor for teaching swimming,“ said Jiří Rokl. It is expected that not only fans of recreational swimming will find the way to the new pool but also pupils of local schools. This is a great opportunity for teaching swimming courses especially for these ones.

The new site has a capacity of 250 attendants, daily attendance is expected at 1350 persons. Visitors can use 36 car parking places and it is also remembered for bikers with 42 "parking" spaces. The whole area of an indoor swimming pool is easy accessible for handicapped people.

New building of swimming pool is located in the former place of Prefa. It is important to mention that the general contractor of the project – VCES proceeded the construction works in very ecological way. "The original buildings were demolished and after shattering and sorting out the old structures they were used as recycled underlayer of communications. We can say that original objects were almost recycled," described Martin Bašek – commercial director of VCES the first stage of construction. "The construction site was taken over in early December 2008 and despite of the longtime and very tought winter this year we managed to complete construction and hand over it for trial operation in accordance with the contract, on 23rd June 2010, "concluded Bašek.

The costs of building a new indoor pool amounted to CZK 174.6 million. The Regional Operational Programme NUTS II Severovýchod was significantly involved to the project financing with CZK 142 million. The The remaining part of the costs (CZK 32.6 million) was paid from the city budget. The architectonical study was prepared by Ing. Arch. Vladimir Pošepný from Studio ADIP in Hradec Králové.

Rychnov Kněžnou city fulfilled a list of already completed projects in the field of sport. In the future, it is considered for reconstruction of the outdoor swimming pool Včelná with estimated costs CZK 35 million.
