New multifunctional gym has been opened in Čeladná
It was a very special day for Čeladná. On Friday, 11 Jun 2010, there was held the opening ceremony of new gym building of the Čeladná elementary school.
The building, which was built on place of the original old gym, not only solved the problem of insufficient facilities for teaching of physical education and school physical activities of elementary school pupils, but also the needs of after-school physical activities of Čeladná population.
The original gym was not in conformity with its parameters for any ball games and its facilities did not meet current requirements. "The new gym building was designed with emphasis on the requirements for the operation of ball games, especially footsal and volleyball," said Pavol Lukša, the Mayor of Čeladná. The floor space and height of the gym allows basketball operation at league level. The new gym will not only serve school children and sports clubs. "The public will find in the new building equipment for fitness and aerobics and we also considered activities of clubs and social organizations in Čeladná community," added Lukša.
There will be a new stand witch 288 seated and 30 standing spectators for watching sport events. Gym is also equipped with a background facility: cloakroom, bathroom and toilet for sport teams and referees, including sanitary facilities for spectators and persons with reduced mobility. There is one more interesting feature. The mobile dance floor will allow organizing various social events.
To finance a project in the worth of almost CZK 58 million (VAT excluding) in addition to the municipal budget there were also involved the Regional Council of Cohesion Moravia-Silesia, which under the Regional Operational Programme granted CZK 47 million. Successful application for this grant was prepared by HRAT s.r.o. – a consulting company from Třinec and the project documentation was made by Kania a.s.
The construction works of new gym started on 3rd August 2009 and winner of the tender, the company VCES, managed to build it in 10 months. "Although the process of construction was significantly affected by this year's tough winter, we managed to meet the promised deadline," said Ing. Zdeněk Pokorný, Vice-Chairman of VCES.
