A reconstruction worth 140 million crowns awaits a secondary school in Rychnov

A new hall for vocational training, better quality accommodation for students and a modern student canteen will be built as part of the reconstruction of the Higher Vocational School and the Secondary Industrial School in Rychnov nad Kněžnou. The construction project, for which the Hradec Králové region will pay almost CZK 140 million, will begin in mid October. Today, Hradec Králové Governor Pavel Bradík and representatives of the VCES construction company that will carry out the project, signed the respective contract for work.

The Vocational School in Rychnov is attended by 859 students, who study various crafts and services, including graduation studies. “It has become obvious it would be appropriate to extend the range of study programmes with other fields of study, lifelong education or partial skills,“ said Vice-Governor Helmut Dohnálek.

To allow admission of new students to new study programmes, it is necessary to modernize the existing buildings, accommodation facilities, the school canteen and to build a new hall for vocational training. “That is exactly what the upcoming project is about. The construction work is planned to be completed by the end of next year,“ said Hynek Martinek, the Headmaster.

Another contract was also signed in Rychnov today, and namely for the construction of a new fire station. This project costing about 200 million crowns is financed by the state. The existing station no longer satisfies the requirements, neither in terms of construction nor technology. In addition to this, it is located in the historical part of the town, and therefore it cannot be rebuilt and expanded. The new fire station will ensure professional premises for the firemen and will also accelerate the exit of fire vehicles going to fires. The new fire station will be built by road No. I/14 in the direction to Kvasiny.

Over several past years, hundreds of millions were invested in roads, modernization of hospitals, schools and wastewater treatment plants in the Rychnov district in connection with the expansion of the car manufacture. The region and the state spent about 900 million crowns in this area and investments to schools and roads should keep coming in during the next two years.

“The industrial development for example lowered the unemployment rate in the Rychnov district to the lowest level in the region: while at the end of 2005 the unemployment rate in the Rychnov district exceeded 6%, two years later it dropped below 3% and today it stands below 2.5%,“ said Hradec Králové Governor Pavel Bradík.
