Description:

From the point of view of history, the house No. 79 - "The Golden Lamb House" - in the very heart of the Pardubice city centre is a very precious building which is protected by conservationists. The leading idea of the project for reconstruction and an annexe to the house was to integrate the new structure in a natural way among the existing historic buildings and, at the same time, to create a modern contemporary architecture. The annexe is connected with the reconstructed part of the house no. 79 with a two-storey block which reminds us of a back porch which used to be in this place. The interior area of the building is lighted through a glazed wall oriented to the South, to an inner patio. A preserved historic wall forms the North boundary of the new part of the building. The reconstructed part of the building houses an IT department with access to the internet, a children’s department and a reading room. The annexe created space for a depositary, foreign language department and special departments. Gothic cellars in the historic building can be used for exhibitions.
